LYRICS:
Yeah open up the door let the summer wind blow in
Get our friends together let the evening start flowing
The clouds are parting ways to let the moon shine through
And the moon’s loving light is on the likes of you

I can hear the music coming down from the mountain
Keeps on getting closer just a shaking up the ground and
Don’t you know our favorite band is playing ’till a quarter after two
And the moon’s loving light is on the likes of you

Lord I can see my baby such a sweet little dancer
Moving with the music how she weaves like a panther
Yeah the moon is drunk on whiskey don’t you know it’s true
And the moon’s loving light is on the likes of you

Load up the station wagon bars will soon be closing
Let’s take a little drive up into the mountains
Hey the moon is gonna shine on your pretty birthday suit
And the moon’s loving light is on the likes of you

ABOUT THE SONG:
In 1987 I began working on a Bachelors of Fine Art at SUNY New Paltz, a small gem of a town in the shadow of the Shwamangunk mountains an hour due north from NYC. The people I met in my time there set the stage for the rest of my life. I fugged up pretty bad in high school, managed to get kicked out. Somehow, shortly after getting moved to a new high school in upstate NY, I began figural drawing and painting and was hooked. The tight community of artist, musicians, and writers I met in New Paltz from 1987-1991 set me on a path I continue on till this day. This song is for each and every one of them. The parties, the shared work, the trust instilled to complete the impossible, all happened while we became adults together. Far away from my own family, I found a new one.

Late one night after a party I looked up at the sky and was the full moon dancing between small clouds, lined up like a procession past the tree line. As I walked up to my studio late at night, I thought that the clouds were like the dreams of all the townspeople who had turned in for the night. The perfect companion for an artist about to open the door to his studio.

ABOUT THE VIDEO:
In 2024 I made a music video for Space Cowboy using some experimental film techniques and having fun with a space man doll. It was more like a Stretch Armstrong. Had no clue I would get such a great response from both the songs and the visuals that went with the release. Even though this song is not going to be on the Space Cowboy album I’m working on for 2026, I’m already thinking about the new songs visually. My new album out next week, is already in my rearview mirror.

Footage was shot here at the home studio, in front of a makeshift greenscreen, set infront of film footage taken from trips to the Italian Alps, The crazy looking space base the astronaut comes out of is actually taken during the 3 cable car trek up to the Marmalade, a spectacular Mountain in the Dolomites. The moon itself is a light up plastic moon model. The space suits are collectible GI Joe dolls from Apollo II. I had a tremendous amount of fun figuring out how to fit my huge head into a space helmet of a doll, it wasn’t that hard after all few tries, I got it working perfectly. Reminds me of the early sci-fi movies from the 1980s, Star Wars ripoffs and campy visual FX.+

LYRICS:
She stepped right off of the train
Headed straight across the platform
Behold, such a beautiful face, (she came up to me)
Asked me for a lighter, you got one

Let me see the moonlight in your eyes
Let me see the New York City lights
Let us smoke some incense and fill the air
Baby don’t you know that we’re almost there

Because! Tonight it’s only rock and roll, babe
You can have it any way we want, or else waltz away
Madison Square, walk right inside
We’re gonna dance to our favorite songs all night
Gonna get crazy, let go and have ourselves a hell of a time
We can go crazy on each other and have ourselves a hell of a time

Oh if you feel me, babe
Won’t you join along
If you feel, feel, feel it, got to join along
I know you long to, join along

If you want a right place
If you want a piece of the action, action
The whole, such a sweet embrace
Always amplifies attraction

Because! Tonight it’s only rock and roll, babe
You can have it any way we want, or else waltz away
Madison Square, walk right inside
We’re gonna dance to our favorite songs all night
Gonna get crazy, let go and have ourselves a hell of a time
We can go crazy on each other and have ourselves a hell of a time

Oh if you feel me, babe
Won’t you join along
If you feel, feel, feel it, got to join along
I know you long to, join along

When we missed the last train home
Camped for Letterman tickets but got none
Floated through outer space
Rockefeller Center and then some

Because! Tonight it’s only rock and roll, babe
You can have it any way we want, or else waltz away
Madison Square, walk right inside
We’re gonna dance to our favorite songs all night
Gonna get crazy, let go and have ourselves a hell of a time
We can go crazy on each other and have ourselves a hell of a time

Oh if you feel me, babe
Won’t you join along
If you feel, feel, feel it, got to join along
I know you long to, join along

ABOUT THE VIDEO:
A big part of my music is the first time I perform a new song to my friends and family. The album and single release art is from a show at my local venue, The Camp Store in Carlsbad, CA on the first night I publicly played the song. This is a still from the video recording. It means so much to me, the local surfers, our community who all shares our lives around such a spectacular beach.

In my official music video, I’ve synched surf footage from the trips I’ve been on with friends, to coaster rides looking at local surf breaks to the boys and I first playing this new song. I hope you like it when it comes out this Friday June 14th.

LYRICS:
Baby Listen to the cold as it blows
Blowing through these window panes
Hand blown glass warp my vision
Looking though the wooden frame
Hear the floorboards speak in the morning
Footsteps ‘fore the break of day
Always caught him in those in between hours
Always coming home after working late

Beneath wooden beams my childhood dreams
All the good times coming back to me
Nothing like the sound of that Farmall C
When you’re sitting on top of that tractor seat
You can hear in the fields such a beautiful sound
Music to the hand that holds the plow
Dinner bell rings call me back to the house
Harvest evening when the sun go down

I used to look out in the evenings
Dream of rambling
Moving lights on the old highway
Thinking of the places that they were off to
On the wide open interstate
When I told him I was set on leaving
He said I know, I love you
God’s speed on your way
Now that he’s gone I come back home
to the memories of this old place

Beneath wooden beams my childhood dreams
All the good times coming back to me
Nothing like the sound of that Farmall C
When you’re sitting on top of that tractor seat
You can hear in the fields such a beautiful sound
Music to the hand that holds the plow
Dinner bell rings call me back to the house
Harvest evening when the sun go down

ABOUT THE VIDEO:
Years ago, my wife fell in love with Mammoth Lakes, California. Getting to know the Eastern Sierras opened a new chapter in my life. Up until then everything was coastal and revolved around the ocean, the mountains were somewhat of a stranger to me. On a drive from Lake Tahoe to San Diego, we spend the night in Mammoth. It was love at first site. Around that same time, I traveled so much for work, I began to loose myself. The mountains reminded me where my roots are and always have been. Once I’m submersed in those mountains, the floodgates open and the memories of youth are brought back to life. The stars, inter-connected constellations of my own ancestry and mythology. The night sky in the Sierra Nevadas is a true mirror to the soul. The footage was taken after I returned to California from a surf trip to Indonesia. In the mountains and the open ocean, my heart returns to my loved ones who are no longer with us.

Take to the street to play music
Got my amplifier, open guitar case
All of the hookers and hustlers
Gonna make em move, where they congregate
Let me tell you
Prostitution’s illegal but ya’d never know by the look of this place
Mind you I’ve got no problem ’cause I tell you LOVE, is a terrible thing to waste

Ask me where Im going, I’m going way down town
Ask me what I’ll be up to, said I’m a gonna spread a little love around
A little love around
Little love around
Little love around
Little love around

Playing myself some guitar, got a big old smile, right across my face
I’ve been out here for 3 hours, I think its about time, to smoke a jay
Inspiration she finds me, on a crowded sidewalk or just about any place
When I’m with her I hold her so closely ‘ cause I tell you love is a terrible thing to waste

Ask me where Im going, I’m going way down town
Ask me what I’ll be up to, said I’m a gonna spread a little love around
Little love around yeah
Little love around
Love, love around yeah

ABOUT THE VIDEO:
A few years back I took my brother Tommy to the holy ground (Ireland) as a thank you for being my big brother. I was raised with a piece of sod from Clifden in a case sitting next to the History of the Irish Race, by Seumas MacManus. It was a piece of the holy land, at least that’s what those of Irish ancestry call it. The case with glass doors was right by the Telefunken (our stereo), which played nonstop albums by the Clancy Brothers, the Dubliners, and so many folk singers of the era. My father loved that music.

In the video you’ll get to meet my brother, most people I’ve introduced him to will tell me after getting to know him, that I’m a dickhead in comparison. They only thought I was cool, until they met him, which is hilarious. So needless to say I feel like I’ve won the lottery with having him as a brother, and thought a trip to Ireland was a great way to say “thank you”. I thought about trying to shoot a video that’s true to the lyrics, busking on the streets of American cities, and all the colorful characters in the process, but this trip to Ireland seemed more fitting. Here’s why.

Once we agreed to go to Ireland, we also agreed that to avoid drinking too much, we’d bring guitars and try to play every pub we went to. It was a stroke of pure genius to plan on plying music in pubs to avoid drinking, that’s for sure. It sounded like a braggadocios pipe dream, but we soon found out that people there absolutely love American Music, especially early country and rock n’ roll. We ended up playing just about every pub we went to, because you simply just don’t walk into a bar in Ireland with guitars and not play. Hopefully someday I’ll finish the documentary “Ireland or Busk”, but this is a little past of the good times we had.

Check out all the other videos from the new album, “I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere” by the Ram out April 18, 2025.

LYRICS:
I can hear it in the distance
Coming down the line
Such an overwhelming feeling
Hard to deny
People come, drift away
The love they bring is everything
Everything, everything

Don’t you know, don’t you know, don’t you know
There lives a fire in the sky
Fire lives, fire breathes
Resides in these green eyes
Don’t hold back, ride your wave
‘Cause the only thing guaranteed
Is perpetual change, perpetual change

I’ve taken my share of beatings
Plenty of times
They only guarantee
I’ll Never stop trying
Guide my steps through mystery
Painful though the changes be
Changes be, changes be

Don’t you know, don’t you know, don’t you know
There lives a fire in the sky
Fire lives, fire breathes
Resides in these green eyes
Don’t hold back, ride your wave
‘Cause the only thing guaranteed
Is perpetual change, perpetual change

Each day we rise is a gift of
Unspeakable cost
The only thing guaranteed
That alls not lost
People come, drift away
The love they bring is everything
Everything, everything

Don’t you know, don’t you know, don’t you know
There lives a fire in the sky
Fire lives, fire breathes
Resides in these green eyes
Don’t hold back, ride your wave
‘Cause the only thing guaranteed
Is perpetual change, perpetual change

Perpetual change
Beautiful strange
Ain’t no denying
When you feel it inside
From Cadillac Maine
Cross windswept pains
Blue Western skies
Over Rocky Mountain high
Perpetual change

ABOUT THE VIDEO:
The music video starts and ends with footage of the Aegean Sea, an experience with God on the deck of that sailboat. What happened is between the creator and I. While in Montana, I was fortunate enough to have a spectacular view of Lone Peak (11.16K) right out the room window, so I took a time-lapse every time I went back to the room with my iPad. The palm trees and pelicans are native to my hometown, Carlsbad, CA. There’s a transition that goes from B&W footage in Arizona to a sunset in Humboldt, CA which means a lot to me. It was the last dinner I had with my son Ronan before we dropped him off at Cal Poly, Humboldt.

Bring the horses to water
The last light of the sun
Wear that dirt and sweat with pride
Today’s works all done
Today’s works all done
Today’s works all done
Today’s works all done
Today’s works all done

It’s a simple life, but we know what’s right
Part of his plan, God provided this land
Can I hear an Amen my friend
Can I hear an Amen my friend

It’s a simple truth, from the seed to the root
The fruit of our toil, springs forth from the soil
Sustenance again
Sustenance again

Clean your hands and wash your face
Leave those dirty boots by the door
Stow away the tools of the trade
There’s no need to work anymore
There’s no need to work anymore
There’s no need to work anymore
There’s no need to work anymore
There’s no need

It’s a simple life, but we know what’s right
Part of his plan, God provide the land
Can I hear an Amen my friend

When the veil of the evening falls
Stars hail in the night
Gather round with the loved ones
Feel the warmth of the fire
Feel the warmth of the fire
Feel the warmth of the fire
Feel the warmth of the fire
Feel the warmth of the fire

It’s a simple life, but we know what’s right

ABOUT THE VIDEO:
A deep cut from the Ram’s upcoming album, “Warmth of the Fire” is a prayer to rural America. A subdued reflection on being raised on a small farm in Southeastern Pennsylvania; five children, two widowed grandmothers, and legendary parents.

We were raised to help others. Neighboring farmers worked together, and supported one another. With the family’s blessing, our neighbors kept their livestock free roaming by the farmhouse. In the evenings, they’d come over and bring the horses to water. My father’s bond with the land was his gift to each of his children, his spirit looks over those farmlands.

“With love comes sustenance.”

LYRICS:
With the ocean in my eyes
Feet in the sand
One last step and
It’s goodbye to dry land
Feel the cold water flow
When I’ve never felt more alone
Everything transforms into something beautiful
Say everything transforms into something beautiful
Say everything transforms into something beautiful

Full moon fades out in the west
It’s time to take a deep breath
Get down beneath the wave
Out the other side
Get ready for the very next set
Hear my heart beating out my chest
Everything transforms into something beautiful
Say everything transforms into something beautiful
Say everything transforms into something beautiful

See the fire of the sun fill the evening sky
When we get together guaranteed good times
Got a good thing going there’s no denying
Keep doing your thing, I’ll do mine
Baby do your thing, I’ll do mine
Baby do your thing, I’ll do mine
Baby do your thing, I’ll do mine

Surrounded by the sun and the ocean
Ain’t nothing like right here & right now
Feel so high right here besides you
I don’t ever want to come back down

Deep dark eyes to the skies
Strong wings above the sand
One last push and it’s goodbye to dry land
Let your voice be a whispered prayer
Let your love always be there
Let everything transform into something beautiful
Say everything transforms into something beautiful
Say everything transforms into something beautiful

Lord, I’ve see how you’ve grown
How you’ve never felt more at home
In skin all your own
Yet so much like your mom
I watched since you’re a baby girl
You mean everything in this world
Everything transforms into something beautiful
Say everything transforms into something beautiful
Everything transforms into something beautiful

Oh something beautiful

PRESS RELEASE:

The Ram’s new album “I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere” is scheduled to be out on April 18, 2025 on all streaming platforms.

ABOUT THE ALBUM:
The Ram’s new album, “I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere”, is a collection of singer-songwriter demo recordings recast to feature his live band at home in the Carlsbad, CA. Musings of surf and travel are mixed with recollections of family life on the East Coast, times spent in and around Pennsylvania, New York, and the tristate area. An American triptych.

I am nowhere, I am everywhere
I am free, I’m unbound
I am emotion, I am instinct
I am music, I am sound

Early last winter, “Listen to the Cold” and “Warmth of the Fire” were written on the family farm in Downingtown, Pennsylvania as a homage to his late father. “Everything” came out of nowhere after a morning surf session, as did “Perpetual Change”. Together, the songs represent a solid snapshot of the Ram, his band, and the Southern California lifestyle he sings about.

It’s a simple truth, from the seed to the root
The fruit of our toil, Springs forth from the soil
Sustenance again

COPYRIGHT © 2025 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED THE RAM, The Ram Music, OD Soul, IncThere’s no need to say anything about this song. It stands on its own two feet and speaks for itself.  “Unbound” is the voice of all things uncontrollable, the forces of nature personified.  Those same forces locked up inside the human spirit, embattled in a continuous fight for freedom.

I am nowhere, I am everywhere
I am free, I’m unbound
I am emotion, I am instinct
I am music, I am sound

Writing this song started during the pandemic.  On happenstance, I came accross the video recording of me just ad-libbing with a guitar in hand.  The lenses on my iPhone camera were cracked, as was the world around me.  When I rewatched the recording, I had no doubt the song was complete, the rest of the lyrics were written as fast as I could write.  Sometimes that’s how it works.

Listen to the Cold: Official Music Video

March 15, 2025 by Mark ODonnell
Press Release
Carlsbad, New Music, Rock, Southern California, Unbound

WATCH IT NOW:

This is the official music video for the Rock (Jam Band) song, Listen to the Cold by the Southern California band the Ram taken from the EP/album, I Am Nowhere I Am Everywhere (release date is April 18, 2025). The single is out now on all streaming platforms.

ABOUT THE SONG:
There are wounds in life which are never meant to heal, eventually they evolve into the same scars we wear with pride and dignity. Watching our parents’ generation disappear back into the dust creates such wounds. The houses I was raised in hold the warmth of ancestry, the family farm in Downingtown, PA, my godfather’s house in Shushan, NY, there are countless dreams and memories. There’s a room in the old farmhouse with red velvet loveseats, where I write music. The same place where the Christmas tree stood, where we listened to music. I’ve looked out that window millions of times. I’ve listened to the floorboards and the ceiling creak in the middle of the night when my father was getting up for work, or his mother was getting up to start the day.

I wish more than anything, that my kids got to know their grandfather. It’s been close to 20 years that he’s been gone, but it still feels like yesterday that he was by my side. Whenever I swim through the waves to get out to the surf, whenever I walk the mountains to gather my thoughts, he surrounds me. His voice, loud and clear in guidance, his hand, steadfast to pick me back up whenI fall. If this song is anything, it’s a prayer to him and a reminder to myself that I have huge shoes to fill.

PRESS RELEASE:

The Ram’s new single “Listen to the Cold” is scheduled to be out on April 4, 2025 on all streaming platforms.

ABOUT THIS SONG:

His voice, loud and clear in guidance, his hand, steadfast to pick me back up when I fall. If this song is anything, it’s a prayer to him and a reminder to myself that I have huge shoes to fill.

Lyrics
You ain’t ever baby gonna find me
You ain’t never gonna track me down
Heard it said you want a piece of the action- gimme action
Heard it said you trying to take me down- don’t bring me down

I am nowhere I am everywhere
I am free I’m unbound
I’m emotion I am instinct
I am music I am sound

No one ever said it was gonna be easy
You ain’t prepared to bleed? Just wasting time
We pay our dues and maybe baby then some
When the Hurricane comes, look ‘em right in the eyes

I am nowhere I am everywhere
I am free I’m unbound
I’m emotion I am instinct
I am music I am sound

Ain’t no need to go and get religion
Don’t waste time with people that’ll put you down
You’re cash money babe, you just can’t see it
Take my word ‘cause I’ve been around

I am nowhere I am everywhere
I am free I’m unbound
I’m emotion I am instinct
I am music I am sound

Never, never, ever settle for a substitution
My fire burns bright, & lasts twice as long
Nows your chance to get a taste of the real thing
Step right up in here where you belong

I am nowhere I am everywhere
I am free I’m unbound
I’m emotion I am instinct
I am music I am sound

About the Song
The lyrics and message flowed through me like getting struck by lightning. It was like swimming in the ocean of the collective human soul. Nothing that I can say about this song makes a difference, for it stands on its own two feet and speaks for itself. “Unbound” is the voice of all things uncontrollable, the timber of nature personified. The forces locked up inside the human spirit, embattled in a continuous effort to free themselves.

About the Video:
Originally I was supposed to head home to make a ZZ Top type music video with my brother, and My Uncle Tommy’s Black 57 Chevy. The summer went way too fast, and it looks like Im going to have to have it done this spring and that video is going to have to be set to a different song. That’s the last song of the set. What a great show, and what a great weekend. I hope you all had a great 2024 Thanksgiving weekend. This concert was released in support of the new single “Perpetual Change” (released on November 8, 2024). We started video taping and recording our live shows consistently in 2023, when I took over the live sound. Prior to that the recording sound quality was a bit spotty.

Perpetual Change: Official Music Video

November 8, 2024 by Mark ODonnell
Press Release
Carlsbad, Everything, New Music, Rock, Southern California

WATCH IT NOW:

Lyrics:

I can hear it in the distance, coming down the line
Such an overwhelming feeling, hard to deny
Music comes, drifts away
The love we bring is everything
Everything, everything

Don’t you know, don’t you know, don’t you know
There lives a fire in the sky
Fire lives, fire breathes
Resides in these green eyes

Don’t hold back, ride your wave
‘Cause the only thing guaranteed
Is perpetual change, perpetual change

I’ve taken my share of beatings, plenty of times
They only guarantee, I’ll Never stop trying
Guide my steps through mystery
Painful though the changes be
Changes be, changes be

Don’t you know, don’t you know, don’t you know
There lives a fire in the sky
Fire lives, fire breathes
Resides in these green eyes

Don’t hold back, ride your wave
‘Cause the only thing guaranteed
Is perpetual change, perpetual change

Each day we rise is a gift of, unspeakable cost
The only thing guaranteed, is that all’s not lost
People come, drift away
The love they bring is everything
Everything, everything

Don’t you know, don’t you know, don’t you know
There lives a fire in the sky
Fire lives, fire breathes
Resides in these green eyes

Don’t hold back, ride your wave
‘Cause the only thing guaranteed
Is perpetual change, perpetual change

Perpetual change, beautiful strange
Ain’t no denying, feel it inside

From Cadillac Maine, cross windswept pains
Blue Western skies, ver Rocky Mountain high

You are the answer to the question, deep in my mind
The only thing guaranteed, is change has arrived
Music comes, drifts away
The love we bring is everything
Everything, everything

About the Song:

The premise of “Perpetual Change“ is simple: life is short, don’t waste it. There is so much that is out of our control, we need to focus only on the things that we have tactile control over. This means having absolute and utter faith in ourselves and our actions. Our loved ones in time will pass on, so love them with all you have while there still here on earth. If they’ve already passed, never stop thinking about them. Never stop telling their stories and appreciating what they sacrificed so that you’d live.

Ancestry is powerful, genetics tie us to the natural world. Our ancestors taught us consciously and gave us instinctual gifts in our DNA, those are the tools we need to be successful in life. The world is ever changing and evolving, you can put money on it. Never rest on your laurels, always seek to continuously improve yourself until you die. That all that matters.

It’s fitting that I put footage from dropping off my son at school in the music video for the song. My own life is changing faster than I care it to, my hair is white, my face at 55 far older looking than I feel inside. I’m glad to be at this point in life. writing and performing music with friends and family. My biggest drive, is to record the brilliant musicians I play with regularly while I still can.

Each day we rise is a gift of, unspeakable cost
The only thing guaranteed, is that all’s not lost
People come, drift away
The love they bring is everything
Everything, everything

About the Video:
2024 has been a good year for family and I. The winter months were spent snowboarding in the mountains, writing music, and traveling to Big Sky, MT. As the weather warmed up, we started playing at our favorite local music venues regularly up until mid June, then we hit the road and didn’t stop till the end of August. Most of the footage of the video speak to the travels. We start on the Aegean Sea on the last day of my cruise, heading back to Athens, Greece after a long day of ocean kayaking with the family.

The music video starts and ends with this footage, as I had an experience with God during that sunset, on the deck of that sailboat. What happened is between the creator and I. There’s a bit of an easter egg at the end where I superimposed footage of massive thunderstorms, I videotaped while in the airplane traveling to Key West, FL. It was the last dinner I had with my son Ronan before we dropped him off at Cal Poly Humboldt. God I miss that guy.

I had no idea what it would be like dropping my first child (more like a 6’8” ft man) off at college. We’ve done our best to make him independent, that’s all he needs in life, he’s got a good heart, just like my dad and my brother Tommy.

Lyrics:

Moon so bright, my eyes are weeping
Electrified tide of brilliant light
I’m venturing out, through the pounding ocean
Psilocybin speak to my deepest mind
Aw Yeah
To my deepest mind, yeah
To my deepest mind, yeahShe’s a friend of mine, friend of mine

The waves call my name
Ride on Space Cowboy
Smoking that kine, high stepping through the night
And the stars all align to the home of my heroes
And the Milky Way, she’s is a friend of mine
Just he’s a friend of mine

Quiet my soul to laser focus
Tame the wild seas for your son tonight
Amphitheater formed by clouds above me
Laugh as I drop into my perfect ride
Aw Yeah
To a perfect ride, yeah
To my perfect ride, perfect ride
Perfect ride
To a perfect ride, yeah
To my perfect ride
Perfect ride
To a perfect ride

The waves call my name
Ride on Space Cowboy
Smoking that kine, high stepping through the night
And the stars all align to the home of my heroes
And the Milky Way, she’s is a friend of mine
Just he’s a friend of mine

Waves so high, my body’s peaking
Psilocybin ride through electric nights
Man I’ve made my peace
With the pounding ocean
And the milky way, she says she’s a friend of mine
Aw Yeah
She’s a friend of mine
She’s a friend of mine, friend of mine

The waves call my name
Ride on Space Cowboy
Smoking that kine, high stepping through the night
And the stars all align to the home of my heroes
And the Milky Way, she’s is a friend of mine
Just he’s a friend of mine

Yes I stand with my old guitar
To you I’ll be faithful
Just give me little action every now and then
And when I pluck upon these steel strings  |
It all comes to a stand still
My love song’s sung to the southern wind
To the southern wind
To the southern wind, southern wind, southern wind, southern wind

About the Song:

“Space Cowboy” is a shout out to all the cosmic cowgirls and cowboys from East to West. All summer long, the band has been playing this new funky new jam to our local fanbase. It tells the story of a local surf break in Encinitas that we sometimes surf by moonlight. A few times, psychedelics were involved, the Milky Way stars exploded around us, our imaginations were set on fire, and the sky’s constellations came to life.

Such is the life and times of a soul surfing space cowboy. Enjoy.

Moon so bright, my eyes are weeping
Electrified tide of brilliant light
I’m venturing out, through the pounding ocean
Psilocybin speak to my deepest mind

Jack Straw | 3.29.2024

Jack Straw | a Grateful Dead cover performed at The Camp Store, South Carlsbad State Beach Carlsbad, CA

Welcome back to a special Deadhead addition of the weekly Wednesday jam! Jack Straw is such a fun song to play, I’m not sure why it took us so long to add it to our setlist. It’s in there for good now, especially on Freaky Fridays. Which reminds me, I should change the name of my Weekly Wednesday Jam to ‘Ramsdays’, where every day is a Freaky Friday.

Kidding, that would be a horrible name.

After a recording session this past February, long after the engineer headed home, the band was still hanging out and drinking beer jamming and calling audibles. We were running silent with cans on, so we didn’t have to worry about noise or the neighbors, so we went through a number of covers and new originals. We recorded Jack Straw that night, had so much fun, decided to play it at our first show of the spring.

PRESS RELEASE:

The Ram’s new single “Warmth of the Fire” is scheduled to be out on August 2, 2024 on all streaming platforms.

ABOUT THIS SONG:

LYRICS:

Bring the horses to water
The last light of the sun
Wear that dirt and sweat with pride
Today’s works all done
Today’s works all done
Today’s works all done
Today’s works all done
Today’s works all done

It’s a simple life, but we know what’s right
Part of his plan, God provided this land
Can I hear an Amen my friend
Can I hear an Amen my friend

It’s a simple truth, from the seed to the root
The fruit of our toil, springs forth from the soil
Sustenance again
Sustenance again

Clean your hands and wash your face
Leave those dirty boots by the door
Stow away the tools of the trade
There’s no need to work anymore
There’s no need to work anymore
There’s no need to work anymore
There’s no need to work anymore
There’s no need

It’s a simple life, but we know what’s right
Part of his plan, God provide the land
Can I hear an Amen my friend

It’s a simple truth, from the seed to the root
The pride of our toil, springs forth from the soil

Can I hear an Amen my friend

It’s a simple truth, from the seed to the root
The pride of our toil, springs forth from the soil
Sustenance again
Sustenance again

When the veil of the evening falls
Stars hail in the night
Gather round with the loved ones
Feel the warmth of the fire
Feel the warmth of the fire
Feel the warmth of the fire
Feel the warmth of the fire
Feel the warmth of the fire

It’s a simple life, but we know what’s right
Part of his plan, God provided the land
Can I hear an Amen my friend

It’s a simple truth, from the seed to the root

PRESS RELEASE:

The Ram’s new single “Everything” is scheduled to be out on June 14, 2024 on all streaming platforms.

Our ability to find beauty in the world around us is a gift. It’s the very definition of art, and at the core of thinking that translates tragedy, pain, and loss into something that helps us grow. “Everything” is a nod to this gift, written for those who see riches where others would only see nothing and the creator in every single one of us.

ABOUT THIS SONG:

The title track of the Ram’s new album “Everything” was written close to his family home, in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Surrounded by friends and family, it was in between holiday celebrations when he would settle down and get to work writing. Thanks to the room, in the old Pennsylvania log cabin house, a new album will be released in 2024.

IN HIS OWN WORDS:

I put pen to paper in the front room of the old family farmhouse, where my brother Tommy left me a guitar to use while I was in town. In that room, lives the memories of my ancestry and the friendly ghosts of my past. So much has happened in that house that it overflows with soul. All those acts of unconditional love, like condensation gathering.

Places like these are where songwriters belong. A place where the mind swims in a river of inspiration. It saturates the heart with ancient emotion. That room has millions of songs in it, all you have to do is take a seat and listen to your heart.

Our ability to find beauty in the world around us is a gift. It’s the very definition of art, and at the core of thinking that translates tragedy, pain, and loss into something that helps us grow. ‘Everything’ is a nod to this gift, written for those who see riches where others would only see nothing and the creator in every single one of us.

LYRICS:

With the ocean in my eyes, feet in the sand

One last step and it’s goodbye to dry land

Feel the cold water flow

When I’ve never felt more alone

Everything transforms into something beautiful

Say everything transforms into something beautiful

Say everything transforms into something beautiful

Full moon fades out in the west

It’s time to take a deep breath

Get down beneath the wave out the other side

Get ready for the very next set

Hear my heart beating out my chest

Everything transforms into something beautiful

Say everything transforms into something beautiful

Say everything transforms into something beautiful

See the sun red fire fill the evening sky

When we get together, guaranteed good times

Got a good thing going, ain’t no denying

Baby DO YOUR THING, I’ll do mine

Do your thing baby, I’ll do mine

Surrounded by the sun and the ocean

Ain’t nothing like right here & right now

Feel so high right here besides you

I don’t ever want to come back down

Deep dark eyes to the skies

strong wings above the sand

One last leap and trade the sky for dry land

Let your voice be a whispered prayer

Let your love always be there

Let everything transform into something beautiful

Say everything transforms into something beautiful

Say everything transforms into something beautiful

Lord, I’ve see how you’ve grown

How you’ve never felt more at home

In skin all your own , yet so much like your mom

I watched since you’re a baby girl,

You mean everything in this world

Everything transforms into something beautiful

Say everything transforms into something beautiful

Say everything transforms into something beautiful

Into something beautiful
